Stainless Steel Sculpture and Media Art in Gangnam, Seoul

This project features a stainless steel sculpture installation in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea. Created using metal forging techniques and precision welding, it was developed as a public art project designed to harmonise with its urban surroundings. We carried out the entire project, from design and fabrication to on-site installation. The installation combines a suspended forged metal sculpture with a rotating water feature. Media art sequences are projected onto the four faces of a stainless steel cube in turn. As the imagery changes across the metal surfaces, it creates the visual impression that the cube is coming to life. Bringing together large-scale metal sculpture, light and moving images, the installation offers a new way to experience art within an indoor space.

Large-Scale Forged Stainless Steel Installation in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea

This large-scale forged stainless steel sculpture is installed in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea. Water rotates within the ceiling-suspended structure, while circular openings and mirrors visually extend its flow, creating an immersive spatial installation. These photographs were taken with a mobile phone after the sculpture, lower water basin and fountain systems had been fully installed. The suspended cube and the flowing curves of the basin come together as a unified artwork. Media art sequences are projected onto the cube’s four faces in turn, bringing together light, metal and the movement of water. The project encompassed metal sculpture fabrication, on-site installation and the construction of the fountain systems.

Metal Sculpture Projection Mapping in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea

Inside the suspended forged metal cube, a fountain system circulates water in wave-like motion. Large-scale media artwork is projected onto the cube’s surfaces through projection mapping, creating the illusion of a continuously transforming structure. The basin below incorporates a water circulation system and mist nozzles. Together, the moving water, projected imagery and mist create a kinetic installation that gives the surrounding space a sense of fluid movement and expansion.

Stainless Steel Water Basin Fabrication and Factory Fountain Testing

Forged Stainless Steel Water Basin and Fountain System Testing. The lower water basin of this metal sculpture was fabricated using large-scale stainless steel forging techniques. After the fountain equipment was installed inside the basin, it was filled with water at the factory for a final inspection of the spray patterns and system operation. The project brings together metal sculpture fabrication, water basin fabrication, fountain equipment installation and on-site fountain construction. Coordinating fabrication and installation ensures that the sculptural forms and the movement of water work together as a unified artwork.

On-Site Installation of a Large-Scale Indoor Metal Sculpture

These on-site photographs document the installation of a large-scale forged stainless steel sculpture, including the ceiling-suspended metal artwork and the water basin and fountain systems below. We operate our own factory and directly handle metal sculpture fabrication, on-site assembly and installation, and fountain construction. These photographs show how the artwork takes shape within its setting, highlighting our fabrication and installation capabilities through the actual work on site.

Final Factory Fountain Test — Adjusting Water Jet Height and Intensity

This video shows the fountain system undergoing a final factory test before shipment, with the forged stainless steel basin filled with water. The height and flow of the arching water jets from multiple nozzles are checked, and the spray intensity is adjusted. The final operational inspection focuses on the shape of the water jets and the overall harmony of the fountain display.

Powerful Swirling Waves Inside a Stainless Steel Cube

The circular opening in the upper cube is fitted with tempered glass, allowing viewers to see the dynamic movement of water inside. Two submersible pumps generate powerful water jets, creating a swirling flow within the cube. Mirrors lining all four interior sides reflect the moving water, creating a sense of depth and grandeur reminiscent of surging waves. This video captures the installation in operation, showing the interplay of real swirling water and its reflections.
